Nottingham business pledges a year of fundraising for rainbows

The staff of Nottingham-based MCS Event Pro (MCS) are rallying their efforts in a 12-month fundraising programme for local East Midlands hospice, Rainbows.

The MCS team visited Rainbows in April to witness first-hand the practical and emotional support that the hospice provides to children, young people and their families.

This year the team have committed to providing Rainbows with a structured fundraising programme that partners with the charity’s own efforts and activities. The proposed programme includes an MCS company-wide sporting challenge, provision of MCS’ own production services at a Rainbows event, the design and sale of Christmas cards and a corporate commitment to donate £1 for every invoice that MCS produces throughout their financial year.

Meanwhile, colleagues – including managing director Rebecca Muldoon – are looking forward to making a difference by volunteering their time and getting hands-on at the hospice itself.

Rebecca comments: “In 2014, we launched a new CSR strategy in which the MCS team nominates a charity to work with each year.  Having raised funds for national charity The Alzheimer’s Society in 2015 and local charity Maggie’s Nottingham in 2016, we had a strong desire to support something local again this year but also shift the focus to a children’s charity.”

As the East Midlands’ only hospice for children and young people, Rainbows is a place where life-limited children and their families can find care and support.  Their incredible team of people help to relieve symptoms, improve quality of life, support parents and siblings through their bereavements, caring for children until the end.

Rebecca adds: “Rainbows is a truly inspirational charity and one that moved our entire team to nominate them as our chosen charity for 2017-18.  Having recently visited we came away with an understanding of the positive and life changing impact that a sanctuary like Rainbows has upon children and their families.”

Kate Golding, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Rainbows, said: “We are delighted to have the support of MCS for the next year. At Rainbows, we rely almost entirely on donations and thanks to our supporters like MCS, we can continue to provide care and support to hundreds of children, young people and their families across the East Midlands.”
