Smart Direct, based in Nottingham are the No 1 importers and Artificial grass suppliers in the UK. With over 7 years in this industry, both their expertise and customer service are second to none.
Smart Direct approached us to help produce them an exhibition stand for three upcoming trade fairs. With less than 2 months until the first show, they had already booked the stand space at all three exhibitions. Their brief was for us to design and build a stand which was functional, low cost and could be adapted to fit the range of stand spaces they had booked at the various trade shows. In previous years, they had used pull up banners and simple stands to display their products, therefore, this year they were looking for something which would make them really stand out from the crowd. We were asked for ways in which they could display their grass samples in an appealing and creative way, whilst allowing for visitors to be able to touch and feel the quality of the grass. They wanted to make the stand modern, fresh and clean. As the stand needed to be used at various shows in a small space of time, it was important that the stand was easily transportable and re-useable, but could be given different looks for each show.
Our in-house design team assessed the venue floorplans at each of the exhibition shows to assess what type of stand would be needed and what space was available at each venue, taking into consideration the stand location and neighbouring stands. As the stand needed to fit various sized spaces, we designed a stand compromising of 1m modular sections, which could be extended and reduced in size and shape to create various layouts and configurations. In addition to the modular frame, we also created a bespoke shelving unit to display additional products. This display was designed so that it would fit in any 1m x 1m right angle corner. To ensure that the stand has an eye-catching, modern look and feel, we were particularly mindful of providing simple, yet, effective ways to display and enhance Smart Direct's own products and samples. We suggested to display the grass samples on the wall of the stand, backlit with LED lighting to make these stand out. This allowed visitors to see the samples from the walkway, as well as touch and feel them, which created a more interactive solution than having a sample book.
Branded pillars were designed to display the key features and unique selling points of the grass products. For the stand logo sign and coffee plinth sign, we wanted to incorporate their product into the company logo, therefore we ustilised one of their grass samples, which we cut to shape to create the Smart Grass logo. Along with the design features on the stand, we also included a seating area and coffee machine for client conversations and to entice people to the stand. The addition of a plasma TV stand, mounted on the back wall, allowed them to display their promo video to showcase their previous work and show the products in situ.
The stand we produced was clean, modern and fresh. It even caught the eye of the Saltex Show organisers, winning the categories "Best Stand" award.
Smart Direct were delighted with the results - we had managed to design and create a bespoke stand which could be used in various spaces displayed their products effectively and in an attractive way, whilst still fulfilling basic stand requirements, such as storage space.
"MCS have given our appearance at the trade shows this year a new lease of life. We have received so much positive feedback about our stand from new and existing customers as well as show organisers; we even won an award for 'Best Stand' at one trade show. It has been great working with MCS; they have been so helpful at every step of the way and have contributed some great ideas that fit with our brief. We love that the stand is built in 1m sections allowing for it to fit the various sized stand spaces we've had whilst still looking seamless each time. We can't thank them enough and would recommend them to anyone who wants to stand out at an event or show." - Andrew Simpson, Managing Director, Smart Direct
