Fisher German is a nationally renowned team of property consultants, planners, estate agents, utility managers and renewable energy experts. The firm has been offering professional services and support in all aspects of land and property management for over 180 years.
For the first time in the company’s history, Fisher German decided to host an internal awards evening to celebrate the success of all its colleagues, in the shape of a one-night event at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry.
The event needed to be run to a keen budget but offer content that excited and interested all areas of the Fisher German business from rural conveyancing to office based support.
MCS, who had not worked with the company before, were asked to support on venue finding, audio visual production and event management to further devise the evening’s agenda, content and entertainment, for around 300 guests.
We began by introducing Fisher German to the Ricoh Arena. Our experience with the venue meant we were confident that it answered all the early requests including location, distance to major road networks, on site accommodation and accompanying nearby accommodation. It was also out of town, which was important to ensure that guests remained on site throughout the evening to enjoy the entertainment as well as encourage networking.
Once we had a venue, we worked closely with the Ricoh’s team and our client to ensure everything was accounted for. With it being the first of its kind for Fisher German, it is even more important that we ensure clear and transparent communication and management between all parties to ensure everyone’s needs are met. Ever moving budgets due to varying attendee numbers, accommodation allocation and ensuring that the Ricoh could meet requests such as dietary, allergy and access were among the event management logistics that our team are experts at.
While our event management team worked hard on the ground, our graphic design and production teams were working together to design an awards backdrop, stage and technical configuration that could be built up or down as budget was allocated, that would meet the set up and breakdown times provided by the Ricoh Arena due to events taking place both pre and post our event, and that would give Fisher German’s guests a fantastic show.
Event management and production joined forces when we proposed the introduction of awards films. Part of the brief was to bring colleagues and departments together to get to know each other and appreciate the wider roles that everyone in the business was playing. By showcasing the teams and their achievements through film, guests were both entertained and informed to further ensure a group celebration.
MCS filmed, interviewed and produced all the films, and the positive feedback we received upon completion was so good that it re-designed the evening’s format. Instead of highlighting individuals for awards, the evening was presented as a joint celebration of people, teams and achievements as an entire business.
Final elements included planning a welcome reception, table plans, event collateral and entertainment, with design and print support from our graphic design team.
Results and testimonial
The evening was a great success. There were small issues that we had to overcome, such as alpacas wandering around the Ricoh Arena during set up, that we were not expecting, but no event is complete without a little unexpected excitement!
The evening ran without a hitch and the guests were entertained throughout due to a well-planned agenda filled with networking, dining, entertainment and celebration.Kendra Jackson, Communications for Fisher German, said:
